Upgrading vehicle maintenance facilities to safely accommodate natural gas, hydrogen, or propane service can be a deciding factor in whether an organization chooses to adopt one of these fuels for its fleet. Upgrading a garage for code compliance can be confusing, unnecessarily expensive, and time consuming.

GTI developed in-person workshops and online resources that guide how to upgrade maintenance garages for natural gas, hydrogen, and propane service. The workshops cover important topics, including gas detection, emergency ventilation, heating, alarm systems, and a review of fuel properties.

If you are interested in an online or in-person workshop, please contact altfuelgarageworkshops@gti.energy.

Workshops include a half-day of classroom activity and learning tools, followed by a visit to an actual garage to see a completed upgrade or one in progress.

Materials from past workshops, reports, videos, case studies, best practices, and strategies for cost-effective code compliance are available on this website.
